"What they don't teach you in College"Everyone has their moments, when they realize that College may have given you great information, but they didn't prepare you for everything. These are the moments when you understand that even though your professors seemed to have it all together, they couldn't possibly have given you the insight to face all major hurtles in your career. For those of us who attended "Bible School" as it is called (a Religion based program for colleges and Universities) the same challenges apply. read more...

Welcome to Ohio... so much to Discover!
A cheesy text came across my phone as I rode over the green tressell bridge seperating West Virginia and Ohio. Jennifer had read the sign welcoming us to our new home and couldn't believe the irony. "So much to Discover" was a slogan that meant more to us than most, we were planting a new church: "Discover Life Church." It had been a long trip, Josh and I in the front of a box truck, pulling a trailer and Jennifer and Kristyn in the mini van... we were ready for a sign. The truth is that for months now we have been experiencing signs, spiritual ones that is, that said we were heading into something amazing, something powerful. I was glad when we reached Ohio. The trip started out normal, everything seemed fine. We wrapped up our final Wednesday night with Alien Nation Student Ministries and headed out the door. Pulling out of Jesup, GA at 10:30 at night, we were just hoping Raegan and Matthew would sleep. It was 4:30am by the time we reached Clover, SC (Jenn's parents) where we were dropping the kids off for the weekend. We caught one hour of sleep, give or take, and then hit the road again. But it was the mountains of West Virginia that brought our first challenge.
I could feel the truck dying as we came up on the rest area, and the first thought in my mind was, "not now!" But alas, it was the alternator and we coasted into the smallest mountain community I had ever seen. What was strange about this stop, is that no one said a word to us, we just coasted the large truck and trailer into a tiny church parking lot and began to think... "what are we going to do." Well with some keen thinking brought on by the starbucks break we had taken just a few minutes before the disaster, we rode in the minivan back up to the interstate exit to catch cell service and called a wrecker. They were able to fix the truck and we headed out just 4 hours behind schedule. So needless to say, I was ready for a sign when we got to Ohio, about 20 hours into our journey. What's great about journeys, they are never predictable. This was just the first trip over three weeks of transition and locating and I can't tell you how much we have discovered. I'm kind of expecting it to get crazy, and a little scary, but that's the deep end for ya!
